Hello, I’m Allan Faulds. I was the Green candidate for Victoria Park ward in Glasgow’s 2017 council elections, and I kept this site after I narrowly missed out because I liked having a fancy domain. A strong belief in social justice and sustainability led me to join the Scottish Green Party in 2013. My particular areas of interest include local democracy, youth engagement with politics and LGBTI+ rights.
I was co-convenor of the Scottish Young Greens for the year 2014-15, alongside Zara Kitson. This was a busy period for the SYG, including both the run up to the referendum and the huge membership surge afterwards, ending with the biggest and boldest AGM to date. Since then, I’ve taken part in the election campaigns for Ross Greer in East Dunbartonshire in the 2015 UK General election, and for Patrick Harvie in Glasgow Kelvin in the 2016 Scottish Election.
Now that the council elections are over, this site will mostly be an assortment of random thoughts about politics, and particularly all things electoral reform and local government.
Outside of politics, I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) in Mechatronics, and currently work as an Electrical and Control Engineer. I enjoy cycling, indoor climbing, and bits of sci-fi of varying quality.
